West Indies Women claimed a big win against Bangladesh Women at Sharjah to climb the top position of the Group B points table in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
After West Indies Women chose to field first, Bangladesh Women managed to score only 103/8 in 20 overs. The 2016 champions then chased the target successfully in 12.5 overs after losing only two wickets.

Mostary and Sultana brought a fighting spirit
After Bangladesh openers Dilara Akter (19) and Shathi Rani (9) were dismissed cheaply, Sobhana Mostary and captain Nigar Sultana produced a good 40-run partnership for the third wicket.
Karishma Ramharack took four wickets
However, Caribbean off-spinner Karishma Ramharack dominated with the ball by picking up four wickets, including the first three wickets. Ramharack finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-17-4.
After Ramharack broke the Mostary-Sultana partnership, Bangladesh Women failed to continue the challenging momentum. Sultana scored 39 runs, but she didn’t get proper support on the other end.
Matthews and Taylor put 50+ runs opening partnership
West Indies Women comfortably chased the 104-run target in just 13 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews scored 34 off 22 balls, while her opening partner Stafanie Taylor retired hurt after scoring 27 off 29 balls. They had a 52-run opening partnership.
Also, Shemaine Campbelle (21 off 16 balls) and Deandra Dottin (19 not out off 7 balls) had strong cameos to end the game dominantly.
In the Group B points table, West Indies Women and South Africa Women both have four points after three matches, and they are staying in the first and second positions, respectively. Meanwhile, the third-place England Women have also earned four points after playing two games.
