A day after playing the final game of his first-class career, celebrated cricketer Manoj Tiwary publicly asked the legendary India captain MS Dhoni the reason behind him being dropped from the squad despite scoring a hundred. However, Tiwary made his international debut under MS Dhoni and played 12 ODIs for India between 2008 and 2015 as well. He scored 287 runs which came at 26.09 with his only century coming against West Indies in Chennai in December 2011 as well.

MS Dhoni made headlines recently

“I would like to ask Dhoni why was I dropped from the playing XI in 2011 after scoring a century? I had the potential to be a hero just like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli but could not be. Today, when I see many people getting more opportunities on TV, I feel sad,” Tiwary told reporters on the sidelines of his felicitation at the Calcutta Sports Journalists’ Club on Tuesday.

The veteran also said that the younger generation of Indian cricketers is ‘IPL-centric’ and it is decreasing the value of India’s premier red-ball competition Ranji Trophy as well.

“I can observe that young players have adopted an IPL-centric mindset,” Tiwary said, referring to central contracted players opting out of playing domestic cricket. Those who don’t play IPL often go to Dubai or other places whenever they find some free time. However, this trend is diminishing the significance of the prestigious Ranji Trophy,” he again said.

Team India did well in the Tests vs England so far

As far as Team India’s ongoing Test series is concerned, they have won the third Test convincingly by 434 runs against England in Rajkot. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a double-hundred whereas Ravindra Jadeja scored a hundred and picked up a fifer and helped the host to seal the deal as well.

However, the fourth Test will take place in Ranchi which is former India captain MS Dhoni’s born place. And, there’s a speculation that he can come to meet his former teammates as well, although there is no official confirmation came yet.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni will next be seen in action during the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It will be interesting to see if he comes to see his old friends during the fourth Test.
