Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes 22 runs in first over in IPL 2026 clash vs MI
Yashasvi Jaiswal blasts 22 runs in the first over against Mumbai Indians, giving Rajasthan Royals a flying start in a rain-shortened IPL 2026 match.

After a long delay due to rain, the IPL 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati finally got underway. Due to continuous showers, the game was reduced to just 11 overs per side. This made the contest very fast and intense, where every ball mattered a lot. The pressure was high from the very beginning.
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. With only a 3.2-over powerplay, Rajasthan Royals had no option but to attack from ball one. The pitch had some help for bowlers, but the short format meant batters had to take risks. It was the perfect setup for an explosive start.
Rajasthan Royals openers came out with full attacking intent. Yashasvi Jaiswal looked very confident from the first ball. He did not give any chance to the bowler to settle. After the long delay, fans finally got to see some exciting action.
RR get explosive start with 22-run first over
Jaiswal completely dominated the first over bowled by Deepak Chahar. On the first ball, he smashed a short delivery for a boundary towards square leg. On the second ball, he picked up the length early and hit a huge six over midwicket. The third ball was again punished as he thrashed it through backward point for another four.
On the fourth ball, there was a small pause as Jaiswal stepped away due to a distraction, and the ball was declared dead. After the re-ball, he played it safely towards mid-wicket for no run. But he quickly got back into attack mode on the fifth ball, hitting a low full toss straight for four.
