It was the second T20I clash of the 2017 series between South Africa and Bangladesh at Potchefstroom, where the Proteas posted a massive score of 224 runs for the loss of four wickets. Their number five batter, David Miller, celebrated the century off just 35 balls and ended up with a fine unbeaten knock of 101 runs off 36 balls at a strike rate of 280.55, thanks to seven boundaries and nine sixes.

Miller nailed the two pacers, Mohammad Saifuddin and Rubel Hussain, around the park in the death overs. The power of the left-handed batter was incredible; no Bangladesh bowler was able to stop the Protea batter. They claimed the victory by 83 runs.

It was the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash between South Africa and New Zealand at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Proteas were restricted to 169 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Marco Jansen contributing 55 runs off just 30 balls, shouldering a couple of boundaries and five sixes.

New Zealand completed the chase by nine wickets with more than seven overs to spare. But Finn Allen surprised everyone with his superb knock of an unbeaten 100 runs in just 33 balls, decorated with 10 boundaries and eight sixes. He was unbelievable in the evening under pressure and didn’t seem to be scared of the opponent’s bowling line-up.

It’s overall the third fastest T20I century behind Sahil Chauhan and Muhammad Fahad.

The Punjab-born ended up with 108 runs off just 34 balls at a strike rate of 317.65, thanks to nine boundaries and 11 sixes. It was his 10th century overall in the T20s, which is the joint-most by Indian players, along with Virat Kohli, ahead of Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma’s eight centuries.
