Top 5 lowest totals of Chennai Super Kings in IPL history
A look at Chennai Super Kings’ five lowest totals in IPL history, highlighting their struggles in key matches across seasons.

Chennai Super Kings had a disappointing start in their IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati.
The team struggled early and fell to 57 for 6 in just 8 overs. Nandre Burger and former CSK player Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each and put CSK under pressure.
Key players like Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube could not make an impact, as both scored only 6 runs. Samson’s debut for CSK ended on a disappointing note. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and other batters also got out quickly.
Jadeja continued to trouble his former team with two important wickets, making the situation even more difficult for CSK.
In the middle of the collapse, Jamie Overton played a calm and responsible innings. He scored 43 runs from 36 balls and helped stabilize the innings.
His knock was also historic. Overton now holds the record for the highest score by a CSK batter at No. 8 or lower in IPL history. He went past MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 37 against Delhi Capitals in 2024.
Overton also added a useful 33-run partnership for the last wicket with Anshul Kamboj. This effort helped CSK reach a total of 127 runs. This is not the first time CSK has scored below 150, or even below 100, in the IPL. It has happened several times in the past.
Now, we take a look at Chennai Super Kings’ five lowest totals in IPL history.

Despite these opportunities, CSK continued to struggle as Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, and others fell cheaply, leaving the team at 18 for 4 in the early overs.
The middle and lower order could not recover. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin failed to stabilize the innings, and even MS Dhoni could not turn the game around. The top order failed to provide a solid start, and wickets fell at regular intervals. The team was unable to maintain a steady run rate, which put additional pressure on the middle and lower order. Despite their efforts to recover, the batters could not shift momentum, and the innings remained under control by the opposition bowlers.
The middle and lower order contributed some runs, but it was not enough to reach a competitive total. CSK eventually finished at 103 for 9 in 20 overs, well below par for a home venue. The performance highlighted the team’s challenges in maintaining consistency and handling pressure situations. KKR bowlers executed their plans effectively, keeping CSK’s scoring under control and taking key wickets at crucial stages. This was CSK’s third-lowest total in IPL history.

Yusuf Pathan added 8 runs, while Shane Watson remained unbeaten on 14.
