Match 42 of the 2022-23 Big Bash League sees sixth placed Hobart Hurricanes host fifth placed Sydney Thunder on Sunday afternoon. The Hurricanes have eight points from nine games in the tournament so far. Thunder are two points ahead of Thunder from one additional game. The win in the last game will have given Hobart Hurricanes plenty of confidence and, with their skipper returning to the side, they will have plenty of belief that they can get a victory in this match. Sydney Thunder were challenging at the top of the table at the start of 2023 but they have rapidly fallen down the table over the last couple of weeks. It will take a big turnaround to get a win in Hobart.

Although they have not all fired at the same time, Hobart Hurricanes have a top order full of batters who have contributed this season. Sydney Thunder have only Oliver Davies who comes into this game with any T20 form. A win for Hobart Hurricanes would see them get their first back to back victory of the season and also see them jump above Sydney Thunder in the BBL table. In home conditions, we expect the Hurricanes to take the attack to Sydney Thunder but predict that there will be some fight from the likes of David Warner, Oliver Davies and Nathan McAndrew. Considering the team combination, Hobart Hurricanes is expected to win this match.
