England vs India: Just as Bangladesh felt at home last night in an ODI, England are likely to feel just as happy going back to their favorite format. While they are threats in the Test and T20 formats as well, it is the ODI format in which they are at their most fearsome level. They know how to get 300+ scores for fun, have a very daunting line-up, and can toy with bowling attacks with ease. Additionally, England are going to be boosted by the returns of Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow. All three are in very good form, and are likely to add solidarity to the line-up. Jos Buttler will be taking his normal place down the order as well, making the line-up look more scary with Jos Buttler waiting for his time in the sheds.
India’s last ODI came back in February. Over the last few years, ODIs have been very scarce for them. Coming back to the format is going to be interesting given India are with a full-strength squad this time around. They did a great job in the T20Is but their lack of game time in the ODI format may be an issue.

Key Players
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is back in the Indian team after a long gap. The fact that he was selected for this series and later made captain for the ODI series against West Indies shows that he is still in the scheme of things when it comes to the 2023 World Cup. However, with ODI Cricket scarce in between, Shikhar Dhawan will have to show that he can adjust to the gaps and maintain consistency.
With him only playing in one format, there is likely to be extra scrutiny on him and he will have to be at his best, putting a lot of pressure on him. Additionally, with a good IPL behind him, a good ODI series may prompt the selectors to change their minds on their views of him in the T20 squad. Overall, there are a lot of scenarios relating to Shikhar Dhawan and all of them can only be answered through his performance.
Jonny Bairstow
Jonny Bairstow has revived his Test career over the last seven months and is now back to his favorite format. Adaptability is not going to be an issue for him though. The fact that he has been playing Test cricket with the tempo he plays ODIs is going to make it much easier for him to adapt and be at his best. With the form and confidence, he is in, Jonny Bairstow is probably the biggest threat in the English side despite the presence of players like Stokes and Buttler.
England vs India Match Tips
India has had very little ODI cricket in the last few years. England though are at their best in the format, and have incredible depth in ODIs. they know their game well, and will be very confident despite the T20 series loss.
