Afghanistan is through to the Semis magically. A World Cup Semi-Final serves as a reminder of their incredible growth over the last few years. With South Africa against them, the World Cup Final will certainly have a first-time finalist. South Africa on the other side is yet to play their best Cricket but is coming in after a really good tournament regardless. They are doing well in the crunch moments, something unusual for them, and a good day would be really helpful for them as they are yet to bring out that one really strong performance.
Date: June 26th, 2024
Time: 6:00 AM IST
Venue: Tarouba, Trinidad
There is a good chance of rain in the morning which will keep the game pausing a bit.
Tarouba has not seen too much batting action so far with games often seeing sides bowled out for really low scores. The pitch though is on the slower side and there is swing upfront. Batting first will be a better option.
Quinton De Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markaram, Tristin Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi
Rahmanullah Gurbaz/ Muhammad Ishaq, Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Noor Ahmed, Naveen Ul Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi
Travis Head
Quinton De Kock has been batting on a different pitch for a lot of the tournament. His starts have been excellent, contrasting to the other batters in his side. He still remains a huge talent for them after so many years, and with his future uncertain South Africa will be hoping he continues with what he brings to the side.
Mohammad Nabi
From playing in Division 3 of the World Cricket League to now a World Cup Semi-Final, Mohammad Nabi has been apart of it all for Afghanistan. His career will go down as a significant part of their history and now with their biggest moment yet to come Nabi will be hoping to make a good accord for his side.
Afghanistan has enjoyed the party so far while South Africa too are here without a single loss. South Africa did have a lot of close games on their way but their marginal experience, despite not being the greatest in knock-out games could prove to be a point of difference against Afghanistan.
