West Indies vs India: A nail-biting first two games sees India up 2-0. The series though could have easily been 0-2 to West Indies, had they taken their moments well. Nicholas Pooran still sees the games as a win and why wont he given the positives they have had so far. In both games the batting stood up and the bowling came close to holding India down. For India, they managed to get to 300 in both games. Shreyas Iyer scored some runs and Axar Patel finally seems to be coming out of Ravindra Jadeja’s shadows. There will be a selection debate though with Jadeja slated to come back for the Final ODI.
Match: West Indies vs India
Date: 27th July 2022
Time: 7:00 PM IST
Venue: Port of Spain
The weather is cloudy and cool for the day of the West Indies vs India fixture.
The Port of Spain track is expected to be dry and play a little low as most tracks do in the Caribbean. Batting first is a better option.
Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran(c,wk), Brandon King, Rovmann Powel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hossain, Jayden Seales, Anderson Phillip
Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad/Ishan Kishan(wk), Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj
Shreyas Iyer came into this series with a cloud over his ability to play the short ball. His ability is still a concern but the runs he has scored will hide that for the time being. He has had a decent hit out in the middle and that should help his confidence making it easier for him to come out with comfort in the next game.
In his 100th ODI, Shai Hope came up with his trademark anchor innings. A steady hundred helped his side attack around him, getting them to a good score. His batting style is starting to work well for West Indies and if he can manage similar innings, West Indies will look a lot more explosive.
West Indies may have had the series in their hands if they used their opportunities well. With India ahead and grabbing chances better, they are ahead coming into the game.
