The 60th match of IPL 2025 was played between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. In this match, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets and registered a spectacular victory. In this match, Delhi Capitals had set a target of 200 runs in front of Gujarat Titans. In response, Gujarat Titans team achieved the target without any loss in 19 overs. Sai Sudarshan scored an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls and captain Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls for Gujarat Titans team.

Talking about this match, if we talk about Delhi Capitals' innings in this match, then KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis came in the opening. But Du Plessis could not do much special and Arshad Khan gave Gujarat the first success when he dismissed Du Plessis for just 5 runs. After this Abhishek Porel came to the crease. Rahul was set from one end. Porel started playing fast as soon as he came but became the victim of Sai Kishore after scoring 30 runs in 19 balls.

Now captain Axar Patel came to the crease but he flopped and got out after scoring 25 runs in 16 balls. He was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna. Rahul, however, kept on scoring runs fast. Rahul first completed his fifty and then century. Rahul hit 14 fours and 4 sixes in his innings and remained unbeaten after scoring 112 runs. Apart from this, Tristan Stubbs scored 21 runs in 10 balls. In this way, the team scored 199 runs after losing 3 wickets. Arshad Khan took 1 wicket, Prasidh Krishna took 1 and Sai Kishore took 1 wicket from Gujarat's side.

Sudarshan and Gill dominated in batting

When the Gujarat team came to chase the target, Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill opened. Both of them put Delhi on the backfoot by making a partnership of 50, then 100 and then 150 runs. During this, both of them completed their fifties. Gill and Sudarshan were not ready to stop and were continuously scoring runs. In the end, the team needed 46 runs from 30 balls. But Sudarshan and Gill showed with their batting that this season is going to be theirs. Both the players single-handedly won the match for their team.

As India gears up for what will undoubtedly be their toughest tour in a while, a Test series against England in June 2025, the biggest question on the fans' minds has been, what if? What if Virat Kohli returns to captain for a test match? Since Rohit Sharma stepped down, it has caused speculation about Kohli reentering the lineup in some way, shape, or form, even for that one last hurrah.

Kohli, who last captained the Test side in 2022 and is viewed as one of the most successful Test captains of all time, has not only the experience but still enough respect in the dressing room. He is likely perceived as a central figure in Indian cricket, especially now given the injury concerns and lots of reshuffling to the leadership group. Kohli is dynamic, aggressive, and tactical, as well as willing to win, but most importantly, he would provide a strong sense of stability during a reshuffling period, and that probably dovetails to his important experience and cricket acumen from his playing days, even if it may have dipped from a Test batting perspective. 

Some insiders even suggested that the BCCI might turn to Kohli for one last stint to bridge the leadership gap. While you could potentially make a case for Kohli even if it was offered only for one series, since there are so many unknowns with travelling to England and the lack of experience in the group, this would have made some sense, as it would have worked in everyone's favor. However, as the speculation closed, It still left with the selection committee's vision. 

Youth Over Legacy: A New Era of Leadership 

In the end, the selectors chose to look forward instead of back. The BCCI will likely announce that a younger player - probably Shubman Gill - will be appointed the next Test captain. Gill, who has demonstrated maturity beyond his years, impressed with the bat, but most importantly, with his own leadership in the IPL and as a vice-captain in white-ball cricket.

The decision shows that there is a cultural shift for Indian cricket to construct a team for the future. There is no doubt - with Rohit Sharma (and Ravichandran Ashwin) officially retired and Jasprit Bumrah's heavy workload, the BCCI sees it as a necessity to build leaders for the long haul. Kohli - who will be relied upon for his experience - clearly will not lead the Indian team again. 

An announcement on the team will come soon - the start of a new chapter: one where youth, utility, and strategic foresight can shine through.

In the 51th match  of IPL 2025 was played between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad team. In this match, Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad team in a spectacular manner and achieved their seventh win in this season. Batting first in this match, Gujarat Titans had set a target of 225 runs in front of Sunrisers Hyderabad team, in response, Hyderabad team could score only 186 runs.

Talking about this match, Gujarat Titans once again made a great start while batting first. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan once again gave a great start of 87 runs in just 6.5 overs for the first wicket. Sudarshan scored 48 runs in 23 balls. On the other hand, Shubman Gill played an innings of 76 runs in 38 balls with the help of 10 fours and two sixes. Jos Buttler played an innings of 67 runs in just 37 balls with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes in this match. Washington Sundar also played an innings of 21 runs in 16 balls in this match. Jaydev Unadkat took three wickets for 35 runs from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

 Hyderabad's batting flopped in the run chase

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a good start while chasing the target of 225 runs given by Gujarat Titans. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head scored 49 runs quickly. After that Head returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs. Abhishek Sharma played an innings of 76 runs in 41 balls. Klassen scored 23 runs. In the end, Nitish Kumar Reddy did hit some great shots but he could not make the team win. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj took two wickets each from Gujarat Titans.

On April 22, 2025, a tragic terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 28 people, most of whom were tourists, in the beautiful surroundings of Baisaran Valley, commonly referred to as "Mini Switzerland." The attack was carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a splinter group of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and was one of the worst attacks since the 2019 Pulwama attack and was targeted at civilians. This attack claimed 24 Indian tourists, two locals, and two foreigners, with more than 20 people reported as injured. The global cricketing community demonstrated a rare and extraordinary act of solidarity as players, boards, and fans sided with the victims and their families and condemned the attack on civilians, stood against terrorism, and expressed a united front.

Indian Cricketers and IPL Teams Lead Tributes

Indian cricketers, both current and past, took to social media, particularly X, really expressing their sadness and anger and supporting peace and the bravery of security forces. Virat Kohli, who captained India previously, tweeted, "Devastated with the news from Pahalgam. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Violence has no place in our world. Praying for peace and strength for all those affected." Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing icon, tweeted, "Shocked and saddened by the inhumane act in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences to the victims families. India tands united against terrorism." Gautam Gambhir, India’s head coach, demanded justice, posting, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam.”

Yuvraj Singh called for unity, saying, "Deeply saddened by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sending prayers to the victims and their families. Let’s unite for hope and humanity." Shubman Gill denounced violence, saying, "Heartbreaking to hear about the attack in Pahalgam. My prayers are with the victims. Violence has no place in our country." KL Rahul expressed, "Heartbreaking to hear about the terrorist attack in Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families. Wishing peace and strength." Virender Sehwag lamented, "Deeply pained to hear of the indecent terrorist attack on innocent tourists in #Pahalgam. Prayers for the injured." Irfan Pathan, who was in Kashmir just before this attack, said, "Every time an innocent life is lost, humanity is lost. This pain feels too close."

IPL teams also condemned the violence. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) expressed, "Deeply saddened and shocked… Our hearts go out to the families of the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam." Delhi Capitals (DC) expressed, "Heartbroken by the tragic loss of lives in Pahalgam. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims. #StandAgainstTerror." Rajasthan Royals (RR) stated, "Devastated by the senseless violence in Pahalgam. We stand united with the victims and the families and are praying for peace." Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wrote, "Shocked by the horrific atrocity that took place in Pahalgam. Our deepest condolences to all the families affected. Violence has no place in our society." Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wrote, "Deeply pained by the tragedy of Pahalgam. Our prayers are with the victims and their loved ones." These posts... dedicated to the victims and families and posted on X... are a demonstration of the commitment by IPL to unity in opposition of terror.

Indian Cricket Board and Fans Respond

Messages also poured in from international cricketing organizations and players. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement: “The BCCI mourns the loss of lives in the Pahalgam attack and stands in solidarity with the victims and their families. Cricket is a sport which unites the masses and we are firmly against such divisive, violent acts.” 

Fans from around the globe took to social media using tweets like #StandwithPahalgam and #CricketforPeace and made cricket forums into places of memorials. The attack, which targeted a tourism hotspot, struck a nerve with cricketers who had seen and appreciated and felt humbled by Kashmir that intensify their emotions. It also sparked debates on India-Pakistan cricketing ties, with Goswami’s views reflecting broader frustrations.

2.Punjab Kings - Shreyas Iyer: ₹26.75 Crore

Punjab Kings are looking strong ahead of IPL 2025 and they brought last year’s winning captain, Shreyas Iyer, for the new season. On top of that, Shreyas Iyer has set records of ₹26.75 Crore in the mega auction. Shreyas Iyer has played 115 IPL matches, with 69 of them as captain. 3.Chennai Super Kings - Ruturaj Gaikwad: ₹18 Crore
