BAN vs PAK 2nd T20I: Match Highlights and key performances

Bangladesh cricket team is flying high with back-to-back T20I series wins, as they secured a home bilateral T20I series against Pakistan after winning the thrilling second game on Tuesday night at Mirpur. 

Trailing the three-match T20I away series by 1-0, Pakistan captain Salman Agha chose to field first in the second T20I. After restricting Bangladesh to 133 all out in 20 overs, Pakistan were all out for 125 runs in 19.2 overs, as the hosts Bangladesh have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead with the last match yet to be played.

Bangladesh won their first T20I bilateral series (at least two matches) against Pakistan

It is the first time Bangladesh won a T20I bilateral series against Pakistan, consisting of more than one match. While it was the fifth time Bangladesh won a T20I against Pakistan, it was the first time for them to record a successful defend result against Pakistan in T20I cricket. 

It was the fourth successive T20I win for Bangladesh, who just completed their historic T20I bilateral series win in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, it was the ninth defeat for Pakistan in their last 10 T20Is outside the home venue, running with a four-match T20I losing streak outside home.

Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan rescued hosts with the bat

Although Bangladesh had a rough start in the second T20I on Tuesday with the score of 28/4, Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan bravely fought to set a challenging target on the tough batting pitch. While Mahedi scored 33 off 25 balls with two fours and two sixes, as Jaker and Mahedi had a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Jaker was present till the last ball of the innings and scored 55 off 48 balls with one four and five sixes. Apart from them, only the opener Parvez Hossain Emon (13) reached the double-digit scores in that innings.

Among the Pakistan bowlers, Salman Mirza (2/17), debutant Ahmed Daniyal (2/23), and Abbas Afridi (2/37) bagged two wickets each. 

Early collapse proved costly for Pakistan

In reply, Pakistan were struggling at 47/7. Only Faheem Ashraf managed to reach the 20-run mark with his fighting 51 off 32 balls with four fours and four sixes. Abbas Afridi (19), Ahmed Daniyal (17), and Khushdil Shah (13) were the other visiting batters with double-digit scores in that innings. As Pakistan scored 17/5 at the end of the powerplay, it ultimately proved as the main point of the game, despite the lower-order batters' desperate fight. 

Among Bangladesh bowlers, Shoriful Islam got three wickets (3/17), while Mahedi Hasan (2/25) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/23) managed to pick up two wickets in the innings.
