4. 2014, 2nd Test: Australia won by four wickets

Though this match saw India having a forgettable loss, it also saw an evolution of one of the finest and underappreciated innings by a former top-order batter named Murli Vijay. A robust and vigilant innings would be a brief summation of the batter's 144 runs off 234 balls.

This made him the first opener to score a triple-digit figure in the first innings of a test match at The Gabba. He played shots all around the wicket: delicate glances, powerful drives - both in the air and along the ground - and one slashing cut shot over backward point. Though it didn't go in the way of the away side, it marks itself as one of the most underrated batters' remarkable innings.
