Posting 182 for 6 after being asked to bat, Australia combined aggressive strokeplay with steady middle-order contributions. Ireland, in reply, were bundled out for 115 in 16.5 overs as the Australian bowlers delivered a clinical performance. Australia’s innings began briskly despite the early run-out of skipper Travis Head.
