The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released a lot of players during the retention window, forcing them to rearrange their roster ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

The backbone of the Chennai Super Kings, however, has been maintained (MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Moeen Ali), and they will look to fill any voids in their roster at the IPL 2023 auction. Here are the players that  CSK will target in the upcoming IPL auction.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020 and 2021. Over the last two years, Curran has scored 242 runs and taken 22 wickets in 23 games for the side. Despite missing the IPL 2022 due to injury, England’s all-rounder has regularly played with the national side.

The Chennai Super Kings need a bowling all-rounder with the release of Dwayne Bravo, and they have a position open for an international fast bowler who can bowl well in death overs going into the IPL 2023 auction. Sam Curran, on the other hand, checks every box in the auction with surety because he fits the bill.

Adam Zampa

The Chennai Super Kings have only one frontline spinner, Ravindra Jadeja. There is no backup for him, and Adam Zampa may be an ideal option for the Indian spin all-rounder in a bad form or injury situation.

Adam Zampa has 82 wickets in 72 T20Is for an economy rate of 6.93 in his international career. In the IPL, the Aussie leggie has 21 wickets in 14 matches with a strike rate of 13.67. All of the aforementioned criteria might lead CSK to pursue the leg-spinner.

Nicholas Pooran

The West Indian left-handed southpaw was one of the most expensive players in the IPL 2022 auctions. He did, however, contribute well for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 306 runs in 14 matches at an average of 38.25 and a strike rate of 144.33.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, released him before the IPL 2023 because of his high price tag and recent international play. Chennai Super Kings want an aggressive batsman in the middle order who can finish the game for them, providing solid company for Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni. Also, he can be a suitable wicketkeeping option for the team.
