Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ended their long wait for glory by clinching their maiden Indian Premier League title last season, defeating Punjab Kings in a thrilling final held in Ahmedabad. They have made history and have now achieved something that has eluded them for so long as they have positioned themselves as one of the best franchises in the tournament having fallen short so often before. By building upon the solid foundation of a well-balanced group, consistently solid performances all season long and through strong leadership, RCB was finally able to break through and achieve their long-awaited first championship. So, this time around in IPL 2026 it will be interesting to see how the team performs with load of winning IPL trophy finally off their back.

As RCB prepared for the mini auction in January, the management had opted to retain the majority of their championship team while only making slight adjustments to the squad so that they can ensure that the team will continue to be the same and will have all of its players again who had a very large impact on their championship success. By combining their local and international talent as well as utilizing both explosive batters and intelligent bowlers, RCB has succeeded in putting together a very talented roster and one that will continue to be a strong contender in this season's tournament as well. With their overseas players widely considered to be some of the best in the world at T20, this only furthers to add to the depth and flexibility of the team and continues to bolster RCB's chances of being successful once again this year.

Here are top 3 overseas players to watch out for in this season of IPL;

3. Tim David

Tim David in IPL 2026

Like last year, Tim David once again is a key player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, mainly due to his ability to finish games off effectively in the last overs. The Australian all-rounder made a significant impact in the latter part of the innings, while also producing other positive statistics: he scored 187 runs at 185 strike rate over the course of the season; his average of 62.33 indicates a strong level of consistency, because he typically remained out when he batted. He has shown a great ability to hit boundaries and to produce large volumes of runs late in games; therefore, Tim can consistently deliver results in high-pressure situations.

Tim’s place in the final eleven is by no means certain due to the challenge he will face from Romario Shepherd for the role of finisher. The West Indian all-rounder offers a similar type of explosive bat and also adds value as a contributor to the bowling attack, thus allowing the team to maintain balance when playing against different teams from week to week. This intense competition for the finisher's position gives the team management different options to consider based on current form, current team composition, or match conditions, making the battle for the finisher an interesting one.

2. Phil Salt

Phil Salt RCB in IPL 2026

Phil Salt's exciting opener with wicketkeeper batsman Virat Kohli was key in helping Royal Challengers Bangalore win its first Indian Premier League title. Salt had a strong 2016 T20 league season, scoring 403 runs at an average of 33.58 with an excellent strike rate (176). However, his form since then has been inconsistent. He has shown flashes of brilliance, as evidenced by his 62-run performance in a Super Eight match against Sri Lanka during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

RCB would prefer to use Jitesh Sharma as their preferred keeper. However, Salt can also provide this option because of his wicketkeeping ability. He can easily take over as a keeper if necessary, adding depth to the squad and allowing team management to test different combinations depending on conditions and match situations. Salt provides great value to the lineup as a destructive opener and backup keeper.

1.Jacob Bethell

Jacob Bethell in IPL 2026

With several international players in their roster, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have the edge when it comes to their multiple all-rounders. However, Jacob Bethell may be the one who ultimately adds value to the team as he becomes an X-factor player not only in 2026 but also throughout the entirety of IPL history. The young star has already proven himself with England in every format of the game and has shown he can change a match using his outstanding bat skills alone. His performance during the T20 World Cup semi-final against India was enough of a reason to have everyone take notice of him with a brilliant 105 runs off just 48 balls in England's close but unsuccessful attempt at making history with the highest-ever successful chase of 254 runs.

Last season, Bethell only had the opportunity to play in two RCB matches during their championship season but did so by recording his first half-century in the IPL (55 runs from 33 balls) while opening the batting with Virat Kohli against the Chennai Super Kings. His innings displayed tremendous power hitting ability, as well as poise and maturity; thus making him capable of being a match winner on any occasion. As his experience grows, so too will his confidence; thus providing RCB with a key contributor to back-to-back championships during IPL 2026
