The Delhi Capitals (DC) had an ordinary season in the IPL 2024. They failed to rediscover their rhythm and ended sixth after 14 games, with seven wins and seven losses. Despite their efforts, they were unable to meet expectations.

To turn things around for the next IPL season, DC may need to make substantial changes to their roster to win their first IPL title, which may include releasing some key players. Here are three players that the Delhi Capitals might retain for the next IPL 2025 season.

Rishabh Pant

Delhi Capitals current captain Rishabh Pant's name for the upcoming IPL 2025 retention season of Delhi Capitals, appears to be almost definite. He has done an excellent job leading the club over the last three years.

Looking at his hitting, he has never let his admirers down. Regarding IPL 2024 statistics, he has scored 446 runs in 13 matches, with a fantastic strike rate of 155.40. Wicketkeepers and batters have always been in high demand, and Pant unquestionably tops the list.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel has been a consistent performer for the Delhi Capitals in recent seasons. His performances in the T20 World Cup 2024 place him among the top names on DC's retention list. Axar's rise as a first-choice spin-allrounder might change his fate just before the mega-auction.

Axar has contributed significantly to DC's performance during the previous two seasons. Despite failing to enter the playoffs, the 30-year-old all-rounder took 11 wickets and scored over 235 runs in the 2024 season. The Capitals are eager to extend their long association with their vice-captain ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

Jake Fraser-McGurk

Jake Frazer Mcgurk is the foreign player that DC will most likely run into again through retaining. In the 2024 season, he delivered an excellent performance, becoming an emerging swashbuckling batter. Although the Delhi Capitals had a mediocre 2024 season, his achievements were hailed by many.

He appeared in nine games this season and scored 330 runs at a 234.04 strike rate. McGurk's name seems to be on the IPL 2025 roster as well. Another notable achievement was the Australian youngster's 183 runs off only 69 deliveries in the powerplay overs, resulting in an astounding strike rate of 265.2.
