Following a horrendous start to the IPL 2024 season, Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) staged a stunning comeback to save the season. RCB had only one win in their first eight games before turning the tables and winning six consecutive games to qualify for the playoffs via a victorious final against the surging Chennai Super Kings.

After their fantastic win, RCB appeared to be on track to win the championship, but they were eliminated in the Eliminator game against Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals. RCB will participate in the IPL 2025 mega auction, aiming for players to help their side win their first IPL title ahead of the 2025 season. By making critical moves pertaining to their players' arsenal, here we look at the probable three players that could be retained by the RCB ahead of the 2025 IPL auction.

Virat Kohli

As RCBs' first person on the retention list, Virat Kohli is a no-brainer. Virat Kohli has been with the Royal Challengers Bangalore from the Indian Premier League's beginning. The Indian batting enigma has become an inseparable part of this brand. There is no question that the RCB management would keep Virat Kohli as their first choice.

He exemplified constant competence and loyalty. Being the tournament's most recent Orange Cap holder, he will still have several games in the shortest format, especially after playing a pivotal role in bringing the Indian side to their second T20 World Cup victory. His 2024 numbers include 741 runs in 15 matches, five half-centuries, and one century.

Will Jacks

Will Jacks, the English all-rounder, had a mediocre start to the IPL 2024. However, as the competition went on, Will Jacks improved his form and became an essential member of the playing XI team. With the squad's lacklustre start to the season, Will Jacks played a critical part in boosting the middle-order batting order, providing some swashbuckling vital innings for the team.

With the retention criteria not yet finalised, Royal Challengers Bengaluru can consider him for overseas retention since he might be a viable alternative to the team's future batting order. In his brief eight-match stay, he scored 230 runs at a strike rate of more than 175 and took two wickets.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj, India's reliable bowler, is another strong contender to join the RCB retention list ahead of the IPL 2025 big auction. Siraj was left to lead the RCB bowling attack in the 2024 season, which batters primarily dominated.

Though he had a bleak season with the ball, Siraj scalped 15 wickets in 14 games at an economy rate of just over nine runs per over. Despite the lower figures, he has been their best bowler by far. Siraj has been with the franchise since 2018 and is expected to be retained for the 2025 season.
