Aaqib Javed resigns from Pakistan's selection committee after 3-0 series defeat vs England

The senior member of Pakistan’s selection committee, Aaqib Javed, has resigned from his position, just a few days after their 3-0 series defeat against England, where their batters failed terribly, while they made seven changes mid-series between the end of the second and the third Test match.  

The Babar Azam-led side showed some fightback during the third encounter at Edgbaston, where their batters put a reasonable price on their wicket in the second innings, while the debutant Razaullah showed his muscles to smash a record-breaking knock.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), reportedly, is going to make some major changes in the coming days by taking some tough calls, including changes to the national selection committee. Another former left-arm pacer, Wahab Riaz, who has been working as a mentor for the women’s side, is also likely to be released along with the coaching staff after the Asian Games 2026 in Japan.

“Even Mohsin Naqvi has now realized that some radical measures are required to end the losing streak and abrupt happenings in Pakistan cricket. So these changes are now on the cards.” The reports have addressed this.

“Naqvi will soon hold a high-level meeting with his aides and also take the governing board members into confidence before final decisions are made on the changes.” It added.

Riaz has also been blamed for the turmoil in Pakistan cricket, just like Javed, who continued to make shocking decisions in the selection one after another.

Rizwan, Imam, and Salman sent home mid-series as Misbah-ul-Haq resigns in protest

Seven players, including their veteran wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan, their captain from the Headingley Test Salman Ali Agha, their opener Imam-ul-Haq, Aamer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Ali Usman, and Awais Zafar, were sent back home after the second Test at Lord’s. 

It was more shocking because Babar had no clue about the changes in the squad. Additionally, the management also sacked their head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from their positions mid-tour and brought back head coach Mike Hesson for the third game.

Even Misbah-ul-Haq also tendered his resignation from the four-member selection committee and stepped down as a batting consultant at the National Cricket Academy. He confirmed his resignation in protest.
