During the Asian Games 2026 Gold Medal clash between India and Pakistan at the Korogi Sports Club in Nisshin, the Indian opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, and the Pakistan wicket-keeper, Usman Khan, exchanged a few fiery words between them as the moment went viral around the social media platforms.  

India’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, won the toss and decided to bat first on a surface which was full of cracks and was anticipated to get slow in the second innings, with the spinners turning the ball sharply, creating incredible pressure for the batters.

Abhishek Sharma and Usman Khan trade words in the Asian Games final

On the final delivery of the second over of the innings, Abhishek Sharma came from round the wicket and pushed the wrong’un well past the tramlines. At the initial stage, it was given as a wide before the umpires changed the decision and overturned it to a no-ball. The bowler cut the return crease as the free-hit came up.

As the umpires were discussing, the camera found Abhishek and Usman Khan exchanging a few heated words between themselves as it went viral on social media. On the free hit, Saad dragged it short and wide of the off stump as Abhishek reached out and clattered it over cover for a boundary.

In the clashes between India and Pakistan, such heated exchanges are not new, especially with the recent episodes between the two sides across formats in different competitions of the game.

How Abhishek Sharma batted in the final: 61 off 28 balls with seven sixes

Abhishek’s first six of the innings came in the fifth ball of the second over when he pulled Masood over the mid-on region for a massive six before picking the length from Saim Ayub and hammering the pull over the wide long-on for the same result. He hammered another six over the long-on region against Ahmed Daniyal.

With a six on the back-foot, powering the drive over the covers, the left-handed batter celebrated his fifty off just 20 balls. He was finally dismissed for 61 runs off 28 balls at a strike rate of more than 200, thanks to three boundaries and seven sixes.

Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 runs off just 22 balls at a strike rate of 231.82 with three boundaries and four sixes as India finished with 211/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
