Abrar Ahmed becomes No. 1 T20I bowler as Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma hold top two batting spots

The Pakistan mystery spinner, Abrar Ahmed, has replaced the former T20I captain of the Afghanistan side and their premier spinner, Rashid Khan, to become the new number 1 spinner in T20I cricket. This has come after Rashid’s ordinary performance during the three-match T20I series against India in New Delhi. 

Abrar becomes the fifth bowler from Pakistan to top the T20I rankings. He joined the former pacer, Umar Gul, and the three past spinners, Imad Wasim, Saeed Ajmal, and Shahid Afridi. Rashid, meanwhile, has dropped to the second position with 735 rating points.

Rashid could pick up only four wickets in the series against India at an average of 28.25 and a strike rate of 24, with the best bowling figures of 3/36. However, he was smashed all around the park by the batters. For India, the highest-ranked T20I bowler is Varun Chakravarthy at seven with 671 points.

In the batting department, Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma hold the top two rankings in the shortest format at the respective ratings of 904 and 893. Tilak Varma is at nine with 726 points, as Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is at three with 848 points.

ICC ODI rankings: Where do Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli stand after the update?

India’s captain, Shubman Gill, is the topper of the ODI batting rankings with 801 points, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are at third and fourth with 767 and 758 points. Babar Azam is at the sixth position with 689 points. 

In the bowling department, Rashid is at the top with 714 points, followed by Abrar Ahmed at number two with 675 points. For India, Kuldeep Yadav is their best bowler in the ICC rankings at nine with 596 points.
