Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane scored his 40th first-class century while serving for the English county club Leicestershire. His century played an important role for his team in the match against Glamorgan.
Ajinkya Rahane is busy in English domestic cricket. In the County Championship Division Two 2024, Rahane’s Leicestershire are fighting against Glamorgan. After Glamorgan chose to field first, Leicestershire scored 251 runs in the first innings, where Australian cricketer Peter Handscomb (46) and Indian cricketer Rahane (42) were the top run-scorers.
After Glamorgan declared their first innings on 550/9, Leicestershire were struggling at 74/3 when Rahane and Handscomb started to rescue the innings.

Ajinkya Rahane scored a crucial 102 runs
On the fourth or final day of the match, both batters, Rahane and Handscomb, started the innings solidly. Both batters completed their fifties and then successfully completed their respective hundreds.
Rahane scored 102 off 192 balls with the help of 13 fours and only six. It was his 40th first-class century. Before his dismissal, Rahane and Handscomb set up a crucial 183-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
After Rahane’s dismissal, Handscomb is battling to secure a draw in the match. At tea on the final day, Leicestershire scored 344/6 in their second innings with a lead of 45 runs. Handscomb remained not out on 126 runs off 230 balls with the help of 16 fours.
Ajinkya Rahane hit four half-centuries in the One-Day Cup 2024
Ajinkya Rahane is in good form with the bat in English domestic cricket. Although he scored 12 and six runs in Leicestershire’s previous first-class match, Rahane was the third leading run-scorer for Leicestershire in the One-Day Cup 2024.
While Rahane’s team reached the One-Day Cup 2024 semi-final, where Somerset beat them by 23 runs in a high-scoring thriller, the right-handed Indian batter scored 378 runs in ten innings, including four half-centuries.
