The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continue to be at the bottom of the points table with just a couple of victories in nine clashes of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at a net run rate of -1.076. They recently faced their sixth straight defeat of the campaign against the Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, Lucknow has been embarrassing in many aspects of the game. In those games, where he was clinical with the bat, their bowling couldn’t do well, and vice versa. Even Pant’s lack of runs with the bat, along with a few wrong decisions as the captain, didn’t help them either.

During the game against MI, the Super Giants handed the maiden cap to Akshat Raghuvanshi, who was signed by the franchise for a reasonable price of INR 2.2 crore. He had emerged as a highly sought-after prospect due to his aggressive batting in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) in 2025.

Raghuvanshi impressed the fans and grabbed the attention during the latest MPL 2026 season, where he smashed 239 runs in just four games at a blistering strike rate of 177.04, including a fine knock of 115 runs off 56 balls.

The right-handed batter arrived in the middle during the 11th over of the innings after the dismissal of Pant. And on the very next delivery, he made his intentions clear. It was a floated delivery from around the wicket. He picked the full-length delivery and deposited it into the long-on stand for an 89-m six.

His stay in the middle didn’t last long as he was dismissed for 11 runs off seven balls. However, after the contest, he met his idol, Rohit Sharma. Akshat was standing beside Rohit, who was talking with a few other players, and that moment went viral on social media platforms.

Both Mumbai and Lucknow are at the bottom of the table. The latter will head home to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow for their next fixture against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
