Andre Russell set for KKR comeback? Viral video sparks buzz in IPL 2026
Ahead of the next fixture, KKR has dropped a video from their official social media account, which has sparked speculation of a possible return of Andre Russell.

Who will come forward to rescue the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from the slum? Currently. With only 1 point in the bag, the three-time IPL champions are sitting in the bottom-most position of the 10-team league.
Ahead of the next fixture, the franchise has dropped a video from their official social media account, which has sparked speculation of a possible return of Andre Russell. On April 14, KKR is set to face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.
Andre Russell, the "power coach" of KKR
Before the high-profile match, KKR shared a glimpse of their training. Through the video, fans can see Andre Russell steaming in the nets to deliver the ball. Shane Watson was also there to monitor the training. Some other cricketers were also there, sitting behind the net to see their power coach bowling.
After taking retirement from the Indian Premier League, Andre Russell has been working as the power coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Caribbean pace bowling all-rounder announced his retirement from the franchise league ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
"I've decided to retire from the IPL. I'll still be active playing in various leagues all around the world and all the other KKR franchises," Russell said in a video message. "I had an amazing time and great memories. hitting sixes, winning games, MVP, and all of those things. But sometimes you just have to know when to hang up the boots. When I made this decision, I just felt like 'yes, this is the best decision'. I don't want to fade out. I want to leave a legacy, and it's best to retire when fans ask, 'Why, you still have some more in you, you still could go for a bit longer' than say, 'yeah, you should have done it years back'.
