Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Standoff: Mohsin Naqvi Holds Trophy in Dubai Hotel, BCCI Demands Immediate Handover

Team India is yet to receive their hard-earned Asia Cup 2025, which was taken away by Mohsin Naqvi, who is not only ACC's (Asian Cricket Council) chairman but also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistani Interior Minister. BCCI demands to return the trophy as soon as possible. 

Naqvi left the Dubai International Stadium with the trophy after Team India refused to receive the trophy from him. It has now been more than 24 hours; the trophy remains with Naqvi, according to the latest updates. Latest reports suggested that the Asia Cup trophy is in the same hotel where Naqvi is staying, and there is no clear indication when he is going to return the title. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia already informed us that the board has plans to take strict actions against Naqvi. According to claims, BCCI is negotiating with other cricket boards involved in the ACC to bring the trophy back. 

It is a no-brainer to understand that the trophy is not Naqvi's personal property, but it belongs to the Asian Cricket Council;he has to hand it over to the team who won it, which is Team India. On Tuesday, a leftover AGM is proposed to take place in Dubai on Tuesday. There, BCCI can raise the Asia Cup 2025 trophy standoff issue. Before that, it is known that Naqvi has been asked to deliver the trophy to the ACC office in Dubai’s Sports City; from there, BCCI can collect the trophy.

BCCI to take strong action against Mohsin Naqvi's act with the Asia Cup 2025 trophy 

India won the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan by 5 wickets, with Rinku Singh hitting the winning runs and Tilak Varma being the man of the match for his unbeaten 69 off 53. It was the team India's record breaking 9th Asia Cup title winning moment. But they had to celebrate without the trophy. 

Through a media brief, Saikia clarified that Team India refused to take the prestigious trophy from a person who is "waging a war against the country." He also said that, against Naqvi's trophy act, BCCI will lodge a "very strong protest" in the next ICC meeting in November.
