India stormed into the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket final after thrashing Sri Lanka by 124 runs at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan, on Thursday, October 1. The defending champions will now face arch-rivals Pakistan in the gold-medal match on Saturday, October 3.

India were asked to bat first and posted 169/7 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan led the way with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added a quick 38 off 21 deliveries.

Sri Lanka struggled in the chase and were bowled out for just 45 runs inside 10 overs. With a dominant win in the semi-final, India secured their place in the gold-medal match and set up a blockbuster clash against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka's bowlers made things difficult for India on a challenging pitch. Tharindu Ratnayake and Sahan Arachchige picked up two wickets each, while Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for seven and captain Shreyas Iyer scored 13. However, Kishan's late attack helped India recover and finish with a strong total of 169/7.

Sri Lanka struggled to build any partnership and were eventually bowled out for just 45 runs in 9.5 overs. Nuwanidu Fernando was the only batter to reach double figures with 15 runs, while Sri Lanka also received 11 runs through extras.

Earlier, India overcame a few early setbacks to post a strong total. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson were dismissed for seven each, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 38 and Shreyas Iyer made 13. Ishan Kishan then anchored the innings with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, helping India reach 169/7.
