AUS vs OMN: Marcus Stoinis lifts Australia from initial struggles - Cricket Winner
Marcus Stoinis played a quickfire knock alongside David Warner’s fifty and helped Australia post a decent total.

The 10th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is currently going on between Australia vs Oman. Oman won the toss and opted to bowl first. They started pretty well and put pressure on the opponents but Marcus Stoinis played a quickfire knock alongside David Warner’s fifty and helped Australia post a decent total.
Put into bat, David Warner and Travis Head got off to a steady start before Bilal Khan drew the first blood. He removed the in-form Head for a mere 10-ball 12. After his dismissal, Mitchell Marsh joined Warner in the middle but he played a rather slow knock of 14 off 21. His stay was cut short by Mehran Khan in the 9th over as well.
His dismissal brought Glenn Maxwell in the middle but Mehran Khan struck again as he removed him on a golden duck. After that, Marcus Stonis joined Warner in the middle. Both tried to steady the ship and took on the bowlers. However, Stoinis’ onslaught brought Australia back in the game.
Stoinis stepped up with the bat
While Warner played the anchor’s role perfectly with 56 off 51, it was Stoinis who scored an unbeaten 67 off 36 with 2 fours and 6 sixes and helped Australia post a modest total of 164 for 5 in 20 overs. He scored 11 runs in the first 15 balls but changed his gear and smashed 55 runs in the next 20 balls.

During the innings break, Marcus Stoinis said, “I’m happy how I finished, it was very tough. (On Warner’s knock) Shows his experience at the top of the order every game, he is class apart. He spent time in the middle and didn’t panic, he did what is right for the team. We were going to accelerate regardless and if you get one or two boundaries at the start, you target that over. Nothing outright but that’s part of a game-plan.”
