The Test captain of the Pakistan side, Babar Azam, has returned to domestic cricket after a long time, as it has grown into a massive attraction and draw among fans in Abbottabad on social media platforms. Babar also met his special fan in the stadium, which showed the star batter's love for the fan. 

Babar returned to domestic first-class cricket after ending the three-match Test series against England in the United Kingdom, as they lost the series by a margin of 3-0. The right-handed batter himself smashed only one half-century during the third encounter at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Fans in Abbottabad had been crazy since the news spread that Babar would turn out for the OGDCL side against KRL, with the supporters arriving at the venue in large numbers just to catch a glimpse of him on the field. Social media was flooded with several photos and clips of the crowd, as many compared it with an international clash.

Babar hadn’t featured in a first-class game for seven years before his comeback. There was a moment when he met a special fan at the ground, which made the fan's day during the second day of the game as it went viral on social media platforms.

One of the fans even breached security and climbed over the gate to enter the field and met Babar during the fixture. The former T20I captain of the Pakistan side was welcomed by all the fans, which reflects the popularity of the star in Pakistan. 

Babar Azam returns to domestic first-class cricket after 7 years, joins OGDCL for President's Trophy

Babar has overall smashed 6823 runs in 177 innings of first-class cricket at an average of 42.37 and a strike rate of 55.95 with the help of 12 centuries and 46 half-centuries at the best score of 266 runs. He has returned to the domestic red-ball game after 2019 as fans awaited to see his batting performances.

Babar celebrated two fine half-centuries during the two Test matches against West Indies in Tarouba and Port of Spain in Trinidad. His 88-run knock showed his skills in the longest format of the game. Meanwhile, he struggled in three of the four innings against England and ended the UK trip with 76 runs at Edgbaston.
