Watch: “Babar is a superstar”: Imad Wasim backs Pakistan star despite poor form in tri-series 2026
Watch Imad Wasim back Babar Azam as a “superstar” despite his poor form in the tri-series 2026. See what he said in support of the Pakistan star, and how Babar has struggled for runs in the series

The former all-rounder of the Pakistan side, Imad Wasim, has come in strong support for Babar Azam, having questioned the level of criticism the star has been receiving from the fans and former players. Pakistan may have won the ODI tri-series against England and Sri Lanka, but Babar returned with poor scores.
The right-handed batter failed to score a single half-century in the entire series, despite getting several starts. He has failed to capitalize on the starts as both the pacers and the spinners have dismissed him throughout the last few weeks.
What did Imad Wasim say about Babar Azam? Full reaction amid the form slump
Babar Azam was dismissed for a five-ball duck during the final on Saturday (October 31). However, the hosts went on to win the trophy thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s 127 and other small contributions. Imad addresses Babar as a superstar and one of the finest ODI batters.
“I genuinely fail to understand the level of criticism Babar Azam faces from our own fans and former cricketers. Let's get one thing straight: Babar Azam is a superstar and one of the finest ODI batters Pakistan has produced. I genuinely fail to understand the level of criticism Babar Azam faces from our own fans and former cricketers.” Wasim expressed on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The former captain argued that nearly a decade of consistency shouldn’t be forgotten because of a tough phase of Babar’s career.
“Yes, question his form. Analyse his technique. Debate his performances. Nobody is above criticism. Stop disguising personal agendas, jealousy and character assassination as cricketing analysis. Pakistan cricket should celebrate its superstars, not tear them apart the moment they struggle.” He penned down.
How Babar Azam has struggled in the tri-series 2026: A look at his run of low scores
Babar’s overall career in the 50-over format is superb. The 32-year-old has smashed 6744 runs in 145 innings at an average of 52.27 and a strike rate of 86.33, thanks to 20 centuries and 38 half-centuries at the best score of 158 runs.
The former Pakistan captain managed 79 runs in the two innings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium against England and Sri Lanka. On both occasions, he failed to grab the opportunity and put up a good score on the board.
