On a final’s day, the eyes always remain on the veteran star players, and Babar Azam is one of them. However, unfortunately, he was dismissed for a five-ball duck during the final of the tri-series 2026 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which took place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Heading into the final, Babar Azam struggled massively in the series with no half-century in his name. He got the starts but wasn’t able to convert them into big scores. And on a day when he was needed the most, the right-handed batter failed to open his account.

It was the third delivery of the fourth over of the chase. It was a pitched-up from the left-arm pacer, Dilshan Madushanka, which got it to nip away with the angle and drew Babar into the big drive, but with the soft hands. Pavan Rathnayake was stationed at the gully and grabbed a fine catch at the end.

It was a juggling grab from the field after repeated attempts. The third was called through. The ball went chest high to the fielder’s right, where he grabbed it. It popped out of his grasp as he seemed to have lost it on the rebound. But he finally managed to get his left hand down.
