BCCI announces massive cash prize for India's Women's World Cup 2025 winning team
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Devajit Saikia, has announced a massive cash prize for India's Women's team winning the World Cup 2025 against South Africa at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the cash prize of INR 51 crore for the Indian women’s side after winning the World Cup 2025 under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur against the South African side during the final at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. It was their first title in the third attempt, having missed the opportunity twice in 2005 and 2017.
To honor their performance, the BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, has confirmed the announcement of the money in a statement. He called it a gesture to acknowledge the team’s incredible historic achievement on November 02, where they held their nerves in various situations and would inspire a new generation with their performances.

“BCCI is elated and without touching anything from the ICC kitty, BCCI on its own is going to pay, as a reward, of INR 51 crores to the Indian team. That amount will go to the players, selectors, as well as the support staff headed by Amol Muzumdar.” Saikia expressed in the interaction.

The reward from the BCCI is in addition to the ICC’s revision of the winners’ prize money. Ahead of the competition, the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, declared a significant increment in the prize money for the teams in the Women’s World Cup, where India faced a situation of being disqualified even before the semis with three successive defeats.
The winners are set to receive USD 4.48 million (nearly INR 42 crore). This is a huge jump from what Alysa Healy’s Australian women’s team got three years ago of USD 1.32 million, which is an improvement on what their men’s side received for upstaging India in Ahmedabad in 2023- USD 4 million.
India posted 298 runs in the first innings, thanks to 87 by Shafali Verma with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes, while Deepti Sharma cracked 58 runs at a strike rate of 100. Apart from captain Laura Wolvaardt’s century, none of the Proteas’ batters were able to stand in the middle and faced defeat by 52 runs.
