BCCI invites PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to attend IPL 2026 Final in Ahmedabad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent a invitation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, to arrive in India and witness the IPL 2026 final.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, to arrive in India and enjoy the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final, which is scheduled to take place on May 31 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The IPL is nothing short of a massive celebration in the country, which has 1.48 billion people, and the 10-team franchise tournament is treated like a cricketing festival in India. The board tends to invite the VIPs from across the field and will continue the same tradition in this ongoing edition.
BCCI extends peace to PCB chief ahead of IPL 2026 grand finale in Ahmedabad
If the reports are to be believed, then the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chair, Mohsin Naqvi, has been summoned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the BCCI to attend the final of the IPL 2026 towards the end of this month.
“BCCI has invited PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the IPL final and ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad. PM Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether Mohsin Naqvi travels to India or not.” The reports of Geo News stated.

The meeting of the council is scheduled to be hosted in the Middle East, but was postponed due to the ongoing war. Now, it is known that the meeting will take place on May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad. The board members are going to discuss the expansion of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025/27 cycle and the inclusion of the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Why BCCI sent this invitation to PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi for IPL 2026 Final — Explained
Naqvi has been asked to attend the meeting in person. However, the tense situation and relation between the two countries have pushed the final decision of his arrival on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, who will decide whether the chief can travel to Ahmedabad or not for the ICC board meeting due to the sensitive condition since Operation Sindoor.
If he doesn’t come in person, then he will have to attend the meeting online. That’s the protocol of the situation. The ICC stated that the governing body is set to hold a series of meetings with the Chief Executive Committee and the board meetings.
The meeting will be held virtually on May 21, while the in-person board meeting will be held on the IPL 2026 final.
India-Pakistan cricket ties in focus as BCCI invitation to PCB chairman sparks buzz
The cricketing ties between the two Asian sides have not been good, as they haven’t played each other in bilateral games since 2012 and only participate in the ICC events and Asia Cups. But that situation also went from bad to worse after the Operation Sindoor.
During the recent Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav decided not to shake hands with Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha at the toss, and the same trend continued throughout the competition.
If Naqvi arrives in India, it will be a massive step towards the recovery of both boards’ relations in the cricketing ties.
