With Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reaching their second successive final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026, the Bengaluru city police have issued an advisory urging citizens to maintain law and order and follow safety guidelines during the game on May 31.

The advisory was crucial, especially after what happened on June 04 last year during the victory celebrations of the franchise at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where 11 people were killed and several others were injured.

No LED walls, no bike rallies, no public screenings — Full list of rules for May 31

The police have warned that no public celebrations will be held on the roads or in public places after the final result is announced. They have also denied any bike rallies, speeding, stunts, unnecessary honking, and the road blockades in connection with the game. The LED walls towards the roads can’t be installed.

The existing LED walls, which are visible to the public, should be used to telecast the game outside the walls, pubs, or other establishments, allowing the public to view the game.

The police have also denied the bursting of firecrackers and the use of other materials. The citizens are asked to maintain peace and discipline, especially in crowded places, and follow the strict instructions of the traffic police personnel.

The people are advised against consuming alcohol in public places, creating disturbances, engaging in fights, and exhibiting rude behaviour. The police also warned cricket fans not to provoke, insult, or target other teams or their fans in the context of the game.

Why Police are taking zero chances — The 2025 stampede that killed 11 changed everything

India witnessed one of the biggest stampede cases in 2025. Following the victory of the Rajat Patidar-led side, thousands of fans flooded the streets around the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for a victory celebration, as the last-minute changes to the parade route, combined with rumours of free entry tickets, triggered a massive surge of fans towards the narrow stadium gates.

11 people were killed, and over 47 people were injured. A state government committee, led by Justice John Michael D’Cunha, declared the stadium structure unsuitable and unsafe for the gatherings, as the Karnataka Cabinet initiated legal action against Bengaluru’s franchise and the KSCA, along with the event management.

Can RCB make it back-to-back? All eyes turn to the GT Final after league stage drama

Bengaluru, who finished the league stage at the top of the points table, earned a vital victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT) by a massive margin of 92 runs at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala to qualify for the final of the IPL 2026.

Meanwhile, Gujarat got another bite of the cherry in the second qualifier against the Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier and earned a seven-wicket win in the 215-run chase at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.

Both RCB and GT will now face each other for the fourth time in the IPL 2026 in the final on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
