The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Delhi Capitals (DC), if the reports are to be believed, would complete a four-player trade ahead of the auction for the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It could prove to be a game changer in the future for both the franchises, even though none of these details are confirmed yet.

Both franchises failed to qualify for the playoffs of the competition. The Capitals ended at the sixth rank of the table with seven wins and as many defeats in 14 encounters at a net run rate of -0.651, while the Super Kings finished at the eighth position with six victories in 14 encounters.

The primary targets for Chennai are Axar Patel, the left-arm spin all-rounder of the Indian side, and Ashutosh Sharma, the lower-order batter of the blue brigade. In exchange, the Capitals are set to target the overseas sensation Dewald Brevis along with the spinner, Noor Ahmad.

One of the biggest reasons for the success of the prime Super Kings was their two spin all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, both of whom were key figures in restricting the opposition to low scores, besides contributing with the bat in the middle order.

Brevis and Noor, meanwhile, will be vital for the Delhi Capitals. Kuldeep Yadav has gone to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while in the absence of Axar, Noor’s spin bowling will be equally vital in the middle overs. They will also have the aggression of Brevis in the middle order along with Rishabh Pant, who returns to the side after two years.

How the four traded players have performed in the IPL: Runs, wickets and key moments

Brevis came to the CSK side in 202Brevis came to the CSK side in 2025 and smashed 376 runs across the two seasons in 2025 and 2026 out of 14 innings at a strike rate of nearly 150 with a couple of fifties. Meanwhile, Noor was exceptional for the five-time champions in the middle order.

The left-arm spinner of the Afghanistan side enjoyed his most successful campaign in 2025 when he earned 24 wickets in 14 innings at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 8.16.

India's Ashutosh could be an explosive batter for the CSK side in the lower order. On the other hand, veteran Axar got just 173 runs in the previous season at a strike rate of 131.06 and bagged only 11 scalps in 13 innings at an economy rate of just over eight.
