The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed the four-player trade deal that will see the spin-bowling all-rounder, Liam Livingstone, and the left-arm pace-bowling all-rounder, Jack Edwards, moving to the five-time champions ahead of the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027.

The Super Kings finished the 2026 edition of the competition at the eighth position of the points table among the 10 sides, earning six victories in 14 clashes at a net run rate of -0.345. Hyderabad, on the other hand, lost the Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Liam Livingstone will join the Super Kings at a reduced fee of INR 6 crore, having been bought by the Hyderabad side for INR 13 crore during the mini-auction of the IPL 2025. Meanwhile, Edwards will come to the Chennai franchise for his existing fee of INR 3 crore. Livingstone played just two games for SRH in the 2026 season after winning the title in 2025 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

SRH signed two pacers, whose campaigns in the last season were curtailed by injuries. Nathan Ellis was expected to be part of CSK’s death-bowling plan in place of Matheesha Pathirana. But, having been signed for INR 2 crore, he was ruled out for the entire season with a hamstring injury that he sustained during the domestic One-Day Cup final ahead of the IPL season.

Livingstone has smashed 1066 runs in 49 innings of the IPL at an average of 25.38 and a blistering strike rate of 155.16 with seven fifties at the best score of 94 runs. He has featured in only 28 games across the last four seasons of the event.

Jack Edwards has a strike rate of more than 120 in the 61 innings of the T20s and bagged 58 wickets in 51 innings at an average of 24.25 and an economy rate of 8.50, with the best figures of 5/26 in an innings.
