The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have donated 63 two-wheelers worth nearly INR 1 crore to the Greater Chennai Traffic Police. The fleet, which consists of 38 Honda Shine bikes and 25 Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles, was handed over under the cricket side’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The Super Kings won the title five times in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023 seasons. All of these came under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad.

CSK’s gift to Chennai traffic police in a nice gesture

The new vehicles were officially flagged off at an event held at the Police Commissionerate in Vepery by Chennai Police Commissioner A. Amalraj, alongside CSK managing director, K. S. Viswanathan. The two-wheelers will be deployed across the city to assist traffic personnel in improving patrolling.

It will help them manage road congestion and execute daily traffic regulations more effectively. During the event, the police commissioner Amalraj utilized the platform to address the growing issue of illegal, social media-driven high-speed bike racing among the local youth.

They warned to take the subsequent legal action, which could heavily impact their future opportunities. That’s a great gesture from the franchise, as bike racing has become a vital reason for several deaths. Many of the youngsters were aged 15 and 16 and didn’t possess valid driving licences. Riding at high speeds without proper training could lead to accidents and loss of life, urging parents and teachers to counsel the youngsters against those types of activities.

How is the franchise preparing for IPL 2027?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finished at the eighth position of the points table in the IPL 2026. They earned six victories and lost eight encounters at a net run rate of -0.345. They didn’t make a great start in the campaign with three consecutive defeats before struggling in the middle phase.

They have made some serious changes in the coaching staff of the franchise ahead of the 2027 edition. The former Indian pacer, Zaheer Khan, has been named the head coach of the side. He replaces Stephen Fleming, who ended his 18-year relationship with the side after the end of the 2026 edition.

“It's an honour to be a part of one of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL. As a cricketer, I have faced CSK on the field and have thoroughly enjoyed the contests. The atmosphere created by the Superfans at Chepauk makes it even more special. I can't wait to join the legacy franchise with such a rich history.” Zaheer was quoted as saying by the Super Kings.
