Chennai Super Kings, the five-time champions, will start their IPL 2026 campaign against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Monday, March 30.

The BCCI revealed the first phase of the IPL 2026 schedule on Wednesday. This phase includes 20 matches and was announced 17 days before the tournament opener. The opening match will be between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The  Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team had a disappointing season in IPL 2025. They finished at the bottom of the points table for the first time in the team’s history. The team won only four matches in the tournament. However, the five-time champions will hope to perform better in the new season after making several changes in the auction.

The 10-team IPL tournament will begin just 20 days after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, which finished on March 8.
