The West Indies head coach, Darren Sammy, has posted on social media platforms after Sri Lanka completed the massive chase of 430 runs against England during the tri-series 2026 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Sammy himself saw India completing a huge chase against them during the second ODI in Guwahati.

Sri Lanka completed the two-wicket victory over England in the tri-series clash as it became the second-highest successful chase in the 50-over format. It’s also only the third time that a team has completed the chase of more than 400 runs in this format.

What did Darren Sammy say after Sri Lanka’s record chase?

Sammy, who was at the ground in Guwahati as the West Indies coach, reacted soon after the first win of Sri Lanka in the tri-series. He put up a short message that tied the two chases, as his tone suggests that bowlers across the universe are beginning to feel the same.

“Wow. No score is safe. I know the feeling, BC.” Sammy penned it on his social media platform. The reaction soon went viral across social media platforms. They were quick to respond to Sammy's tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Me and coach were talking a little bit; as batters, we had to play a couple of overs normally. Then we had to look at how to play when we were going forward. Then we decided Dasun came in earlier. I think the guys batted really well. Everybody showed character and took responsibility.” The Sri Lanka captain, Kusal Mendis, expressed in the post-match press conference.

How Sri Lanka completed the 430-run chase against England

When England posted a huge score of 429 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 50 overs, with captain Harry Brook slamming a fine knock of 202 runs off 116 balls at a strike rate of 174.14 with 21 boundaries and 10 sixes, along with three fifties from Joe Root, Tom Banton, and Will Jacks, it seemed to be an unachievable score.

Sri Lanka, despite losing two wickets, completed the chase with a ball to spare and two wickets in hand. Their third-wicket stand of 166 runs off 137 balls and 133-run partnership for the fourth wicket shouldered them over the winning margin.
