Usman Tariq’s action has been the talk of the town for the Pakistan side during the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. And questions were being raised on whether the Suryakumar Yadav-led side would be able to counter the mystery spinner.
Meanwhile, it was always a surprising factor on how the local players would take Tariq on during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 clash between the Quetta Gladiators and Rawalpindiz at the National Stadium in Karachi.

On the first three balls of the over, Usman Tariq gave away three singles. However, before the fourth delivery, Daryl Mitchell had had enough with the pause of the spinner’s bowling action. He walked away at the last moment as the umpire walked up after a couple of instances and had a chat with the New Zealand batter.
Daryl Mitchell failed to get run on the fourth delivery, which was tossed up slower and put just outside the off stump. The batter drove it straight to the cover region. But Abdullah Fazal ended the over with a massive six, which he thumped over the long-on region.

Tariq had his revenge on the last ball of his next over with the wicket of Fazal, who went deep inside the crease looking to cut the short ball and ended up slicing it off the top edge to the backward point region as the spinner finished with figures of 2/23 in four overs.
Quetta Gladiators earn 61-run victory against Rawalpindiz
In the first innings, despite a slow start, Quetta was able to cross the 180-run mark in their allotted 20 overs. Rilee Rossouw smashed a fine knock of 53 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 126.19, shouldering on six boundaries and one six. Hasan Nawaz clubbed 39 runs in 16 balls, thanks to five sixes.

Rawalpindiz got bundled out for 121 runs in 17.3 overs as four of their batters made it into the double figures. Quetta captain, Saud Shakeel, ended with 2/4 in one over while Jahandad Khan had 2/8 in 2.3 overs.
Brief Scores: QG 182/6 (R Rossouw 53, Ben Sears 3/41) beat Rawalpindiz 121 (D Mitchell 30, S Shakeel 2/4) by 61 runs.
