New Zealand opener Devon Conway’s heart bleeds as he saw his former Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) crushed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) players on March 30 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
Hours after the RR vs CSK IPL 2026, the Kiwi batter shares a heartfelt note on the social media platform ‘X’. Conway, who is currently associated with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Islamabad United (IU), wishes to make a comeback in the IPL with CSK to take revenge.
Devon Conway’s social media post fuels CSK comeback speculation
So far, Devon Conway has played in only three IPL seasons, and all of those were for CSK. The batter was an integral part of their batting order during the 2022, 2023, and 2025 campaigns. With Devon Conway at the top of the batting order, the Super Kings claimed their 5th IPL title in 2023.
CSK team management went for a massive shuffle ahead of the IPL 2026 season because of a ravaging season in 2025, when the team concluded their title race at the 10th spot in the ten-team league. As part of the management’s plans, the 34-year-old overseas batter found no place in the current set-up.
Conway is currently a part of the PSL franchise, Islamabad United. For them, he has played a match already in the current season. From the recent post of Devon Conway, it became clear that despite playing for the PSL team, his heart remains with the IPL club, Chennai Super Kings.
“Hard to sit this one out…Watching CSK lose to Rajasthan Royals hurts. Right now I’m locked in with PSL duties, but revenge at Chepauk will always be on my mind,” the New Zealand international wrote in his ‘X’ post.
Impact on the PSL franchise amid sudden uncertainty
Ahead of the PSL 2026, multiple overseas players suddenly pulled themselves out of the tournament to join Indian Premier League teams.

Fans react as rumours swirl around Conway’s IPL return
Speculations have been initiated around Devon Conway as well after his heartfelt words for CSK. However, there are now strong reports that he could leave Islamabad to join the Chennai Super Kings.
Fans of Pakistan cricketer urge Conway to keep his focus only on his present team, not somewhere else.
