Former India Women captain Diana Edulji has been honoured with her name inscribed on one gate of the stadium.

Former Indian women's cricketer and captain Diana Edulji has been honoured by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), with her name inscribed on one gate of the stadium. It was a grand ceremony on Thursday night where the MCA honoured some legendary Indian cricketers with their names on the stadium gates and stands.
MCA has revealed that Gate No.5 of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been named as Diana Edulji Gate. It has been named after Diana Edulji, the former Indian Women cricketer and captain and the first Woman in the BCCI selection panel.
Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is a historic and iconic venue, where India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, and the home venue of the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. Legendary Indian all-rounder and former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has been honoured with a stand name of the stadium, while Gate No.3 and Gate No.6 are now set to be called Dilip Sardesai Gate and Eknath Solkar Gate.

Who is Diana Edulji?
Diana Edulji served for India Women's national cricket team from 1976 to 1993. She was the third India Women Test captain and the first India Women ODI captain, as she led the team in four Women's Tests and 18 Women's ODIs. While all four of her WTests as captain ended with draw results, her leadership experienced seven wins and 11 losses in WODIs.
The left-arm spinner Diana Edulji took 63 Women's Test wickets and 46 Women's ODI wickets. She is still the third leading wicket-taker in the history of Women's Test cricket. According to the record book, she is still the only bowler in Women's Test cricket history to deliver 5000 balls (5098 balls). Meanwhile, the right-handed batter also scored 404 WTest runs and 211 WODI runs, including one half-century in the Women's Test career.
Diana Edulji honoured with several top-level awards
In 1983, Diana was honoured with the Arjuna Award, then the highest sports honour. In 2002, she received the Padma Shri. She was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2023.
