The leg spinner of the Indian side, Ish Sodhi, was seen to be crying as he got emtional during New Zealand's national anthem in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It always feels like a special moment to be part of the T20 World Cup final, and to be at the ground like Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, it takes a lot out of one player emotionally. The same picture was reflected during the 2026 edition’s final between India and New Zealand at the ground, where more than one lakh turned up during the national anthem.
The New Zealand leg spinner, Ish Sodhi, who was not part of the playing eleven for the final of the competition, couldn’t hold his tears and was seen crying as the emotional video went viral on social media platforms. The leg spinner played in a few games for the Kiwis when they took part in the Super 8 stage in New Zealand.
Coming into the first innings of the game by the Indian side, nothing went right for the visitors as the home side nailed their seventh 250+ score in the Men’s T20Is. They are the second team to register three 250+ scores in a T20 event, along with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024.
Emotional Ish Sodhi breaks in tear during T20 WC 2026 Final
India ended up with 255/5 in their allotted 20 overs in the final, which is now the third-highest score by a team in the history of the T20 World Cups. The 105-run stand between Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan was the second 100-plus partnership in a final of the T20 WC, only behind 111 between Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen.

India smashed 18 sixes in the innings, which is the second most by a team in the history of the T20 World Cups. They have also nailed 37 boundaries, which is the joint second-most, along with their semifinal clash of the event against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Sanju Samson smashed a dashing knock of 89 runs in just 46 balls with the help of five boundaries and eight sixes at a strike rate of 193.48. Abhishek Sharma nailed 52 runs in 21 balls with the help of six boundaries and three over boundaries, while Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 26 runs in eight balls.
