Again, impatience caused the wicket of Rishabh Pant. Pant hurried between the stumps to steal a single, but only for a few inches he missed to reach home safely on time. England captain Ben Stokes, with his agility and accuracy, hit the bull's-eye. Pant departed for a well-made 74.

Rishabh Pant, vice-captain of India's Test team currently, started Day 3 activating his counterattacking mode. He went down the ground to hit a boundary against Jofra Archer with an all-attacking approach. After a promising start, expectations were rising high around Rishabh and KL Rahul. As it was expected, the partnership of Rahul and Rishabh could push the host behind; India was looking on that exact track until the run-out of Rishabh.

Team India lost the swashbuckling batter just before lunch. During the 112-ball, 74-run innings, the keeper-batter smashed eight 4s and hoisted a couple of deliveries for maximum. By the launch, India was on 248 for 4; KL Rahul is on the verge of scoring another Test hundred.

Pant's run out can prove vital in the match

On the third delivery of the 66th over, Pant pushed a delivery from Shoaib Bashir with soft hands. Stokes, running fast, grabbed the ball. The England skipper could throw any side of the yard, but he chose to dismiss Pant over Rahul.

India maintained their plans properly, which was losing no wicket during the initial stage of a new day. Unlike Day 2, there has been little assistance from the surface for the bowlers so far today. England took his time patiently and deposited when the opportunity arrived. When they took the wicket of Rishabh, India was on 248. The home team got 387 against all of their 10 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah claimed 5 to maintain India's dominance.
