Only a few hours before the important England vs. India 4th Test (ENG vs. IND 4th Test) at Old Trafford, Manchester, India skipper Shubman Gill tried to clear all the doubts about Rishabh Pant. During the pre-match press conference, Gill had to face questions from the journalists regarding the availability and the role of the vice-captain of the India Test team.
Rishabh picked up an injury during the Lord's Test, which sparked a series of speculations about his current health status. Gill confirmed that his deputy is all set to step into the field to face England for the do-or-die game.
Ben Stokes and his team are currently leading the 5-match Anderson-Tendulkar trophy by 2-1, leaving the rest of the two matches as a possible series decider. The top-order batter and captain, in the press conference, said that Rishabh will be in his usual position behind the stumps for doing the wicketkeeping job. In the first innings of the previous encounter, the keeper got injured while trying to stop the ball, diving on his left side. He was not able to stop the ball completely but injured his index finger. After that Jasprit Bumrah over, he left the field, and Dhruv Jurel did the wicketkeeping task after that. The southpaw was in discomfort during his batting in the second innings. For those reasons, questions were floating around the India cricket team camp about the future of Rishabh.
