ENG vs IND, 5th Test: Celebrities congratulate Mohammed Siraj after his remarkable performance at Kennington Oval

When the Indian management decided to leave out their premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, for the series decider of the five-match Test series against England at the Kennington Oval, the pressure of the responsibility fell on Mohammed Siraj, who was the senior fast bowler of the eleven along with Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep. 

In the first innings with the ball, the Hyderabad-born ended with four wickets to keep the home side within touch of their distance. The pressure was on him in the second innings, especially in the fifth morning session, when he picked up the wickets of Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Gus Atkinson and completed his five-wicket haul to earn the six-run victory.

The famous British broadcaster, Piers Morgan, also shed light with ‘Congrats to India, and especially Siraj. He was brilliant today, as he has been all summer. What a match, what a series. God, I love Test cricket. But jeez, the torment of losing like that is agonizing.’

IPS CV Anand commented, ‘Continuing from yesterday, apna Hyderabad ka Siraj kya daala bhai- maza aa gaya. Keep going, mian! Bada dil wala hai, bowler with a big heart. And what a test series and what a statement for test match cricket - every match went down to the wire and it was a just result 2-2 !’

The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, who showed incredible belief in Siraj, also added his views. ‘Great win by team India. Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh have given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj, who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him.’
