The left-handed batter of the Lahore Qalandars side, Fakhar Zaman, has shared WhatsApp chats which has alleged the umpires' biasness during the ball-tempering row of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.

The left-handed batter of the Pakistan side, Fakhar Zaman, has currently been out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, where he features for the Lahore Qalandars, as he has been facing a two-match ban due to the ball-tempering scandal that took place during the fixture against the Karachi Kings.
Fakhar Zaman’s appeal against the ban was rejected by the Pakistan Super League committee following the ball tempering allegations. Despite the challenge of the decision, the video evidence went against him, which sealed the verdict and intensified the controversy.

The reports have claimed that Zaman has shown some WhatsApp messages from December 2025 to the committee when the International League T20 was going on. It was shocking that one of the members of the committee was not convinced by the video and didn’t want the ban to get over Fakhar.

Zaman texted one of the highest members of the PCB that a few bad things were said about him during the ILT20 2025/26 by the four Pakistani umpires. That happened three to four months ago, and the text has been shown in the committee.
Sameer Rana, Shaheen Afridi, and Zaman wanted to prove that the umpires were biased against the southpaw in the ball tempering scandal.
What the ball-tampering controversy in PSL 2026 is about
Ahead of the final over of the clash between the Lahore and Karachi sides, the ball changed hands between Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and the bowler Haris Rauf. The on-field umpire was keeping a close eye on the incident and asked the bowler to toss the ball to him.

Upon a close look, it was discovered that the condition had been altered, and a replacement was asked for. Additionally, the visitors were also handed a penalty of five runs, and an extra fielder came inside the ring due to the slow over rate.
“The appeal was heard today by the PSL Technical Committee comprising Professor Javed Malik, Dr Mumraiz Naqshband, and Mr. Syed Ali Naqi. Pursuant to conducting a de novo inquiry, reviewing all evidence, and hearing submissions from relevant individuals, the Committee has dismissed the appeal and upheld the two-match ban imposed by Match Referee Roshan Mahanama.” The PCB made the statement.
The match officials, including the on-field umpires, Faisal Khan Aafreedi, Shahid Saikat, and the TV umpire, Asif Yaqoob, filed the charges against Zaman, who was found to be breaching Article 41.3 of the PSL code of conduct and slapped with a penalty.
