Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam has continued to make his presence felt in domestic cricket as he turned up for his second clash for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) against the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). A lucky fan got to click a selfie with the star batter, which went viral on social media. 

The match commenced on September 30 as part of the first-class President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament, being held at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad. The right-handed batter hopes to get back in form after a poor comeback in his previous first-class game.

The fans came in massive numbers during the second domestic game of the President’s Trophy for Babar, who came to bat in the very first session of the game at number four. He was unbeaten on 12 runs off 30 deliveries as the players headed back to the pavilion for the lunch break.

That was the time when a fan jumped over the wall of the stadium and entered the ground to take a selfie. The moment went viral on social media platforms as the fan rushed into the middle, got the picture with the Pakistan Test captain, and rushed back to join the crowd.

Babar Azam features in his second successive domestic fixture since returning to first-class cricket

In the first innings of Babar’s first domestic game, Babar, after smashing a fine boundary through the extra cover, fell to the superb short delivery as the ball ballooned in the air when he tried to play the pull shot. That was the same way he was trapped by the England side in the United Kingdom.

In the second innings, the Pakistan player was trapped leg before the stumps. The right-arm pacer put a fine out-swinging delivery at Babar, who was slow to get his bat on the ball. The fielding team appealed loudly as the umpire raised his finger to send him back to the pavilion.

Babar made just 16 runs across the two innings of the encounter. He made just one fifty in the two Tests he played against the Joe Root-led side in the UK summer.
