From Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli to Bollywood stars: Celebrities congratulate India on T20 World Cup 2026 win

India made history by defeating New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue won by a huge margin of 96 runs to retain the trophy. This was India’s first successful retention of the trophy. It was also India’s third trophy in this shortest format.

Earlier in the match, India batted first and made a magnificent performance with the bat. India scored a huge total of 255/5 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson was the star man with a brilliant knock of 89 off 46 balls. Abhishek Sharma also made a brilliant contribution with a knock of 52 off just 21 balls. Ishan Kishan with 54 off just 25 balls and Shivam Dube, with an unbeaten 26 from just eight balls.

Meanwhile, New Zealand found that the chase was extremely tough against India’s strong bowling attack. Tim Seifert made a brilliant half-century to keep the chase alive. While Mitchell Santner made 43 runs, but the target was just too high as the Kiwis were bowled out for just 159 runs. Jasprit Bumrah made a sensational spell of 4/15 to make history with India’s win

After the historic triumph, a number of sports and film celebrities congratulated Team India. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar praised the team’s achievement and called them deserving winners. He wrote, “Winning the World Cup twice in a row, the first time any team has done so in the T20 format. Totally deserving and rightful winners of the trophy. What a fantastic performance by our team and a special brand of cricket on display. Well done, Team India. Jai Hind!”

Former India captain Virat Kohli praised the team’s effort and wrote, “Champions once again. Phenomenal victory for us in the big final at Ahmedabad. Great character shown by the boys under pressure throughout the tournament and absolutely no one could come close to this talented bunch of players. Congratulations to the whole management and support staff. Very well deserved. Jai Hind.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team and wrote, “Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination and teamwork. They have shown outstanding grit through the tournament. This victory has filled every Indian heart with pride and joy.”

Actor Ajay Devgn expressed his excitement about the victory and wrote, “My throat is gone from all the shouting, but my smile isn’t going anywhere all week! #TeamIndia you have made billions of hearts beat with pride tonight! CHAMPIONS once again!”

Actor Jr NTR also praised the team and posted, “This is how our Men in Blue showed up with calm, composure and dominance throughout the tournament and brought the trophy home again and created history. Congratulations Team India. The nation will sleep well tonight.”
