Team India, coached by Gautam Gambhir, has taken a shocking decision before the 5-match Test series against England began. The team management chose to release Anshul Kamboj from the tour, reported by Revsportz. The rest of the India 'A' team players, including Kamboj, have been released and are expected to return to India after their duties.

According to the report, the board preferred Harshit Rana over Anshul. But the interesting fact is that Kamboj had generated better stats than Rana against England Lions in this tour. Kamboj not only contributed to India 'A' team's performance with the ball but also with his batting.

Anshul Kamboj vs. England Lions:

• India A vs. England Lions, 1st unofficial Test: 23, 1/69

• India vs. England Lions, 2nd unofficial Test: 2 & 51*, 2/56 & 2/6.

Now, if we talk about Rana and compare his stats with Kamboj, the difference will be clearly visible. Harshit played only one match against England Lions, in the first unofficial match, where he claimed one scalp against 99 runs and got 16 while he batted. Like Rana, Kamboj also bagged only one wicket from this high-scoring match, but Harshit conceded more runs than the other pacer. While the Haryana-born seamer spent 69 runs to take one wicket, Rana spent 99 against the same number of wickets.

So, why the management is preferring Rana over Kamboj is not clear as of now. The 23-year-old has the experience of playing a couple of overseas Tests, which were in Australia last year. In 2 matches against the host, he took a total of 4 wickets. All four wickets he snatched during the Perth Test, and he remained wicket-less in Adelaide.
