Watch: Heated clash! Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton explode in fiery MI vs CSK IPL 2026 moment
During the second innings of the MI vs CSK IPL 2026 clash, Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton had a heated argument after an over completion.

In the crucial MI vs CSK match in the IPL 2026 fixture, while the hosts Mumbai Indians were under pressure, there was a heated moment where the umpires had to intervene. It was a verbal fight between the Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma and the Chennai Super Kings' English pacer Jamie Overton.
Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav were busy building a crucial partnership while chasing a 200+ target at home. Chasing down the 208-run target, MI were down to three wickets only for 11 runs before the completion of the third over. Tilak and SKY were battling hard to control the chase, which was tougher for them as time progressed.
CSK right-arm pacer Jamie Overton delivered his first over of the match during the 10th over of the second innings. Tilak welcomed the English pacer with a four, after which he scored two runs before hitting him for another four on the third ball of that over. At the end of that over, the CSK pacer had a heated moment with the MI batter.
On-field argument between Tilak Varma and Jamie Overton grabs attention
Overton conceded a total of 13 runs in that over, including two fours, as Tilak scored 12 runs in that over. On the final delivery of that over, Tilak secured a single while looking to convert that to a double. However, Suryakumar Yadav denied that double by shouting no, while Tilak had to go back to the non-striker end. In the meantime, during the running process between the MI batting partners, CSK bowler Overton returned to the bowling crease (moved to the non-striker end's standing side) to pick up the throw.
Soon after Overton received the ball, the over was completed, while unhappy Tilak had a heated talk with Overton. Both exchanged some words, while Yadav joined in. Ultimately, the on-field umpires intervened and sent Overton away. While we can hear some voices, Tilak was disappointed with a fielder moving while the CSK pacer was in his delivery stride.
Chennai Super Kings defeat Mumbai Indians to climb up points table

With the help of an unbeaten century from Sanju Samson (101*), CSK scored 207/6 in 20 overs. In reply, MI were bundled out for only 104 runs, as CSK won the match by 103 runs to climb to the fifth spot in the IPL 2026 points table.
