Legendary Michael Holding announces his retirement from Commentary panel.

Legendary Michael Holding bid goodbye from the Commentator role with a career spanning over 3 decades. Michael has been a part of the commentary panel of sky sports for over 20 years.

Before moving behind the microphone, the former West Indies fast bowler had represented West Indies in 60 Tests, 102 ODIs and holding 391 international wickets under his name. His first ever commentary was telecasted during England v/s West Indies tour in the year 1991. The 66 year-old gave signals of retirement last year. “I am not too sure how much further than 2020 I will be going with commentary”, “I cannot see myself going much further down the road at my age. I am 66 years old now, I am not 36, 46 or 56” , stated Holding on a radio talk show. In a recent BBC podcast, Holding expressed that he is honoured and feels extremely lucky when he looks back at his career. Holding was in the news for his famous monologue on racism in the Black Lives Matter protests in the aftermath of the killing of Floyd which garnered him worldwide respect.

Holding, who bid adieu to international cricket in 1987 is popularly known for his baritone voice and razor-sharp insights. From being one of the fiercest pacers to one of the most respected voices in the game of cricket,  Holdings’ illustrious career as a commentator made a long lasting  impact on cricket enthusiasts all over the world.
